Every year, the Leclair family dedicates itself to giving back to the community through a number of foundations and causes that are close to our hearts. In 2016 alone, the Groupe Leclair contributed over $300,000. Here's an overview of the main causes we've supported, in four principal domains: the fight against poverty, health & healthy lifestyles, arts & culture and diversity & society.
Opération Sous Zéro
For several years the Groupe Leclair has been supporting this exceptional initiative that provides new, quality snowsuits to children of families in need, so that they can enjoy winter in comfort. Last year, the Groupe's $36,000 contribution meant that no fewer than 600 children would be properly dressed for winter - as it happens, about the total number of children our Groupe employees have.
The management of Groupe Leclair is committed to donating its time to the Accueil Bonneau. On two occasions in 2016, several members of the team lent a hand to the dedicated volunteers that help the organization open its doors to hundreds of people living without a home every day. On these occasions, the Groupe was happy to donate over 1,000 meals and personal hygiene kits, as well as 1,000 pairs of warm socks ahead of winter.
In 2016, the Groupe Leclair was one of the proud presenters of the Soirées des célébrités, organized to benefit the Regroupement Partage.
Fondation Dr Julien
For nearly ten years, the Guignolée du Dr Julien has been a can't-miss annual event for the Leclair family. We are committed to donating, year after year, $1,000 from each dealership to the cause.
Every year during the Christmas holidays, the Leclair family gives the West Island Mission a $5,000 cheque and donates its time to help in preparing Christmas baskets.
Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie
For over five years, a team sporting the colours of the Groupe Leclair has been cycling 1,000 km as part of the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie to support research into neglected diseases and promote healthy living choices. In addition, in 2014, 2015 and 2016 Groupe employees joined with the peloton cycling in the La Boucle event.
It has been nearly 10 years since members of the Groupe Leclair first got on their bikes to help fight MS and support the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Over the past decade, more than $50,000 has been raised for research during this sporting event. The Ride to Conquer Cancer is another such event the Groupe Leclair has been participating in for a number of years. In all, the Groupe has contributed over $50,000 to the cause.
For the first time in 2016, a team from the Groupe Leclair took part in the Tremblant's 24h event, a sporting challenge benefiting children's causes and which supports the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau, the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the Fondation Tremblant.
Fondation Martin Matte
Through its two Honda dealerships, the Groupe Leclair is happy to renew its annual support for this foundation which comes to the aid of those who have suffered traumatic head injuries.
Foie de vivre gala
The Groupe Leclair is an annual $5,000 sponsor for this fund-raising event whose proceeds go to the MUHC's Liver Disease Research Fund.
Avant-première bénéfice, The Auto Show
The Groupe Leclair is represented each year by a large delegation on the occasion of this philanthropic evening, all proceeds of which go to recognized hospital foundations in the Greater Montreal region.
For the first time in 2016, the Groupe Leclair's six dealerships participated in the Bowvember bow-tie drive to benefit the Procure organization that fights to eradicate prostate cancer. Over 100 members of our teams wore bow-ties throughout the month, and we were proud to end the month in first place among ambassadors for the cause.
Cystic Fibrosis Canada
In support of the family of one of our employees, whose child is living with this disease, the Groupe Leclair donated $5,000 for the cause, in addition to the donations made directly by our employees.
Fondation CHU Sainte-Justine
For several years, the Groupe Leclair has been taking part in the 21k Banque Scotia as well as the winter triathlon in support of research into esophageal atresia at the CHU Sainte-Justine.
West Island Palliative Care Residence
The Groupe Leclair has provided financial support to this cause for several years.
Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation
The Groupe Leclair participates financially in the annual Rose le Soir event.
Défi La Voix de la Guérison
In summer 2016, two cyclists undertook the challenge of riding the roughly 5,000 km distance between Las Vegas and Montreal, in support of the Chaire de recherche en oncologie ORL Dr Azar | Angélil. The Groupe Leclair and its Pie-IX Chrysler dealership are happy to have contributed to the success of this significant challenge by providing the courageous duo with a Dodge Grand Caravan vehicle.
The Groupe Leclair is a partner in the presentation of this magical event to benefit the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts Foundation.
Mécènes investis pour les arts
François Leclair is a member of this organization that every year provides grants to emerging artists.
François and Carolynn Leclair are among the 1,000 young professionals to donate a work of public art to the city of Montreal on the occasion of its 375th birthday.
The Groupe Leclair is proud to contribute to the growth and development of the local arts scene by supporting: Fondation Jean-Duceppe, Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, Théâtre de Quat'Sous, Théâtre du Rideau Vert, and Ma première Place des Arts.
The Groupe Leclair is proud to one of the principal partners of this Montreal-based organization, whose mission is to promote better understanding of the realities of life for homosexual and bisexual individuals. Each year, we donate over $50,000 to this cause, in addition to presenting the Désorientation fundraising event and providing volunteers with the use of a FIAT vehicle, dubbed the GRIS-mobile.
ENSEMBLE for the respect of diversity
The Groupe Leclair sponsors the Mosaïque Benefit Cocktail, a fundraising event to benefit this organization whose mission is to promote inclusion and fight against discrimination.
François Leclair took over the honorary presidency of the Bal de l'Avenir benefiting the Fondation Collège Bourget for its 2016 edition. In all, this event raised more than $120,000, including a $25,000 donation from the Groupe Leclair. This will allow the foundation to continue its work in a number of fields, including providing education bursaries, funding renovation projects and the acquisition of specialized facilities and updating equipment.
Canadian Red Cross
When natural disasters or other tragic events occur, the Groupe Leclair has endeavored to contribute in support of families that are affected. In 2016, when the federal government announced its commitment to match funds raised by the Red Cross to help those affected by the fires in Fort McMurray, Alberta, the Groupe decided as well to match all donations made by its employees. A total of $5,000 was raised to benefit families that had lost their homes. $20,000 was also donated to the crisis fund established for Syria by the organization.
Montreal Dragons Hockey
The Groupe Leclair sponsors a team in this hockey league for gay men and their allies, friends and supporters.
